Award Categories
Nominations are accepted year round for one of six business categories and for the annual Citizen of the Year awards. Category descriptions are provided below.
* New Business of the Year- awarded to a private enterprise that has shown a successful opening and operation in their first two years and demonstrates a desire for growth and prosperity serving as an inspiration for other new businesses while showing a dedicated commitment to the Stettler community. Business must operate within the Town or County of Stettler and be in operation less than two years.
* Business of the Year- awarded to an established company demonstrating continual business excellence through positive growth and industry leadership while exemplifying superior customer service, excellent marketing strategies, a commitment to quality, contributes to local employment, and shows an outstanding spirit and commitment to the development and growth of the Stettler community. The nominee shows a high level of social, cultural, inclusivity, and environmental awareness and engages in continual educational opportunities to advance both their employees and their business within their respective industry. Business must operate in the Town or County of Stettler and be in operation for a minimum of 2 years.
* Business Leader of the Year- awarded to the business owner/manager who has earned a high level of respect from the customers and the business community by demonstrating professionalism, leadership, business acumen, and a dedication to their respective business or industry through innovation and leadership qualities while showing great efforts towards bettering their business, industry, and the Stettler community with a pattern of community involvement and contribution through service, philanthropy, and/or volunteerism.
* Customer Service Award- awarded to an employee or staff who go above and beyond to provide their customers with outstanding service in their everyday operations and shows leadership in setting high service standards for their peers as well as all businesses in the Stettler area.
* Community Impact Award- awarded to the business, club, organization, or not for profit who have had or continue to have a significant impact on the Stettler community through philanthropy, volunteerism, and overall commitment making Stettler a great place to work, live and play.
* Agricultural Impact Award- awarded to the business, club, organization, or not for profit who have had or continue to have a significant impact on the agricultural industry in the Stettler community through philanthropy, volunteerism, and overall commitment making the industry one of the best in the region while promoting community engagement.
* Citizen of the Year- awarded to a Male, Female, Youth or combination thereof, whom through their outstanding dedication and contributions in an unpaid position, have contributed to the welfare or betterment of an individual, service, not for profit group and/or the Stettler community leaving a positive impact. Citizens of the Year are a source of inspiration to others and go beyond expectations each and every time. Recipients must be a current resident of the Town or County of Stettler.
No award will be presented for any business or individual who has received a Stettler Awards Gala award within the last four years. Award nominees are deemed not eligible if anyone in their management, member of their board, or within their employ, are currently serving as a Director of the Stettler Regional Board of Trade and Community Development on the Stettler Awards Gala selection committee. Committee members refresh on an annual basis.
